Diva's Cupcake and Coffee

The parking is a little bit confusing for this shop. It's an older building with a very homey feel when you walk in. The service was excellent and the staff was ready on hand to serve us. They provided a small selection of cupcakes which were entertainingly decorated and they even had a gluten free and a vegan cupcake. The cupcakes aren't the biggest yet cost as much if not more then most. After making my purchase I was very excited to try my chocolate strawberry cupcake. I was horribly let down. The cake part was dry and had a bitter dark coco flavor. The frosting was whipped and had a little strawberry in it but lacked major in flavor. It left an undesirable after taste. Together the combo was far from delight. I found their non cupcake treats to be much better tasting and they had just as many to choice from as their cupcakes if not more.

I give Diva's Cupcake and Coffee.... 2 3/4 cupcakes. They lost a whole cupcake for taste. They lost half a cupcake for parking and half for cost. Even though the selection wasn't big compared to their other bake goods they offered. I only deducted a quarter since they offered alternatives for those that can't have gluten or are vegan.

The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe

Nestled in a strip mall close to BYU you will locate this cupcake shop. Depending on when you go you could either have no line or a very long wait. If you don't go before 4 or 5 o’clock half the flavors are gone and are not coming back for the rest of the night. I have had times when with 3 hours to close they only have one flavor left. They do have an incredible wide selection and provide a cupcake calender letting you know Monday thru Saturday your choices. Again though, if you don't crave your cupcake early enough chances are they will be gone by the time you get there. The cupcakes are a wonderful size with a healthy portion of frosting. For the quality and size of cupcake I believe these to be appropriately priced. They also offer two other sizes but you have to special order these and they only come in a dozen. The cafe is kept tidy though I have been in when it's slow and all the tables have been pretty dirty.

I give The Cocoa Bean Cupcake Cafe..... 4 cupcakes. They lost half a cupcake for cleanness and half for running out of cupcakes early and then only having 1 to 2 flavors the last few hours of prime treat time.

LET THERE BE CUPCAKES!!!!

I have a very special place within my heart for cupcakes. Therefore when I go to a cupcake shop I have very high standards on how they should look, taste and be priced accordingly. I started this blog to help guide those in Utah on which cupcake shops to visit and which to avoid or be selective with their choices. Yes we all have different ideas of what makes a good cupcake, but I have never had anyone tell me that the advice I gave them wasn't right on.

With my review I will also be giving shops a score out of 5 cupcakes. The overall rating will come from these 5 categories... Initial presentation of shop, Look of cupcakes, Taste of cupcake, Flavor selection and Priced accordingly.
